Artist’s Statement

I am a visual artist and crafts person and create work in a range of materials and forms. My degree was in Fine Art painting (Falmouth College of Arts 2003) but as a child, at home and at The Ringwood Steiner School, I learnt an extensive range of crafts and use these skills in the work I teach and create. I love making things and enjoy passing on my skills to other people. I find the variety of materials and projects I work on inspiring and I always enjoy the creative challenge of designing a project to suit a request. I have an interest in recycling but also find theatre and carnival great arenas in which to create exciting and inspirational work.

I am currently a part time art tutor at The Stable Family Home Trust (A day service for adults with learning difficulties) and a qualified level 2 youth worker for Dorset County Council. I have previously run after school art clubs and taught art to inclusion groups. In my freelance work I have experience of working with many different groups of people including the elderly, parents and children, young mums, the homeless, inclusion groups, adults and children with learning difficulties, and in a whole number of settings such as youth clubs, primary and secondary schools, day centres, community centres, parks and gardens.
